1. Set a passcode lock on your phone to add an extra layer of security:
Don’t rely solely on the fact that Apple’s iPhones make it nearly impossible to hack into a phone without a passcode. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. You can set a passcode lock or Touch ID on your phone in Settings>Touch ID & Passcode>Turn Passcode On>Enter a Six-Digit Passcode (or 4-Digit Numeric Code).
2. Share Lock screen in ios 15 Widgets with Your Family:
You can now share your lock screen widgets with your family members. So, if you want them to see what’s on your calendar, or check the weather at their location, you can do that from the lock screen.
3. Use Apps in Picture-in-Picture Mode on the lock screen:
You can also use picture-in-picture mode for apps on the lock screen. You can watch YouTube videos in PIP mode on the lock screen, or just continue Facetiming while checking other apps.
4. Use the new Apple Maps feature to share ETA with friends easily:
If you like using Apple Maps when you travel, there’s a new feature you’re going to love. It allows you to share your estimated time of arrival (ETA) with your friends so they know when to expect you. This can come in handy if you’re going somewhere together or meeting up at a certain location.
You can easily share your ETA by tapping on the right-facing arrow icon at the bottom right of the screen in Apple Maps. After that, select Share ETA and choose whom you want to share it with. You can choose from one of your contacts or copy and paste a phone number or email address manually into the box provided.
Your friend will receive an alert that shows when they should expect you to arrive.
5. Enable two-factor authentication to enhance security even more:
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security that aims to protect your Apple ID from unauthorized access. This is not a new feature, but it’s still worth mentioning here because it is crucial for the safety of your personal data and device. To enable this feature, go to Settings > [your name] > Password & Security and tap Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.
6. Customize Control Center with Widgets:
Control Center in iOS 15 comes with tons of customization options and widgets. To customize the Control Center, head over to Settings > Control Center and tap Customize Controls. You can then select which items you want to see in Control Center and the order they should appear in.
7. Silence Unknown Callers from iPhone Contacts:
In this version, you can now take fine control over incoming calls. If you want your iPhone to ring only when someone calls from an existing contact, you can make that happen. Simply open the Settings app, tap on Phone, and under Calls toggle on Silence Unknown Callers.
Once enabled, your iPhone will only ring for calls from people in your contacts list or that you have previously spoken with. Calls from unknown numbers will be sent straight to voicemail or blocked if you have enabled the call blocking feature in iOS 15.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Phone > Silence Unknown Callers to toggle the setting on or off.
8. Access Siri Shortcuts from Control Center:
With iOS 15, Apple has introduced a new feature called Shortcuts for Siri that lets users create powerful shortcuts for everyday tasks using multiple actions at once. Siri Shortcuts are easy to use but they’re even easier if you add them as widgets in the Control Center. To do so, first, create your shortcut within the Shortcuts app.
- Open Settings and tap Siri & Search.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Siri, then select a widget to add to Control Center by tapping the green “+” icon next to it.
9. Use Private Relay in Safari for Privacy and Security:
Private Relay is a brand-new feature introduced with iOS 15 that allows you to browse the web privately. It uses two different servers so that neither you nor your ISP can see what websites you’re visiting or track your location.
- Open Settings and tap Safari > Privacy Report > Private Relay to enable Private Relay.
- It sends all web requests through two different internet addresses so that your browsing history is not linked to your identity by advertisers and data trackers, for example.
10. Pin Conversations in Messages:
Messages received a big redesign with iOS 14, but it was also released with a few bugs. One of the bugs involved pinned conversations, which were lost after resetting your phone or updating to iOS 14.5. Pinned conversations didn’t return until the release of iOS 15.
- Swipe left on any conversation thread in the Messages app.
- Tap Pin, or swipe again and tap More > Pin Conversation when viewing a full-screen conversation thread.

Siri Shortcuts is one of our favorite additions to iOS 12, and it’s getting even better in this version. Now you can use Siri to quickly add new events to your calendar with just a few quick words.
